The flower of ahuyama, squash, pumpkin, pipian is a flower considered as food in many cultures of the world. It is edible like its fruit (the pumpkin), the seeds (pips) and the tender stems.

The pumpkin flower is trumpet shaped. It has brightly colored petals that vary from yellow green when immature to orange yellow when fully ripe.

Pumpkin flowers are rich in calcium and phosphorus, so it is recommended for people with osteoporosis. It also has potassium, iron and magnesium.
